The Idea

This game is thinking about the human and the virtual word. What kind of world in the game is reasonable or everything is possible in the virtual world. The present maybe in the real world and it also includes the virtual world. How can we define reality and existence?

The game was built by Unity and Blender. Player can press the up/down/right/left arrow to control the character.

The Process and Problems

After sketches about the character and the objects, using Blender to model.

The character can walk only.Even I prepared jump and click animation.

Besides, I added the rotate and transform script and sound trigger in some objects. Particle system makes the whole scene in different feelings. The box collider with a UI script should trigger the text when the player enter or entrance, but cannot work. I left the text in the scene instead.

I am always thinking about the ending of a game.  Why dead and over was shown up at the end of the game? Why we play games to attain the goals setting by others? Can the player change the rules or only follow the game designer? Is “Game over” and “You are dead”  a good reaction? How about no ending of a game?

The game can play endless. Using Space / UpArrow / Z / W to jump, pressing LeftArrow / A key to right, pressing RightArrow / D key to left. The player can jump across platforms.  The game will restart if the yellow square was fell down.

The player are willing to fall down after playing a couple of time because they will realized the playerController sometimes  cannot jump. However, after restarting the jump is working again because of the variation of playerController position. Traditionally, falling down means out of control and dead in the games, but in this game it means adjustment. A new start for the game.

Colors can always not be ignored. The moving background picture can test player’s attention. When the player are watching the picture instead of playing, picture will be move slowly.

The Process

If the playerController fell down, the yellow square will be back in the start position.

The color of different materials. The dark green and light green square haven’t Box collider while the red square added Box collider 2D.

By My Side_Studio II Proposal

A game the player never win. Recently, many news reported on youngsters committed suicide. I was shocked by its high frequency. In fact, the problem of children and adolescent suicide is a worldwide topic under modernization. Here, I would not blame anybody because everyone will be died, sooner or later. I just want to emphasis the importance of companion and relationship. Maybe to listen someone talking is nothing to you, but for the speaker is everything at that moment. So, that is the reason why I want to make a game called by my side.

The game is about finding the water to rescue the seed in the dark. Player should follow the light to find the seed first, and than the sound of river running will be shown up. Player can choose pick up the seed or not.

Fight against Yourself-相由心生

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think about.–Buddha ( 境由心轉,相由心生。)

Video likes a mirror, but not only a mirror. Like the meaning of multimedia artist Nam June Paik’s video work with the Buddha watching himself. I think video is a bridge connected with present and past. We are taking now, but for showing past. Even in real time, the taker and the shower is different. The Time machine project from Osamu Sahara is a good example for showing time and memory delay.

For me, I want to use the video as a magic mirror with reflection thoughts. Not to reflect the real images but for the feelings. The project is called Fight against Yourself, which means the interaction asking the visitor to say something to the camera.When you watching the camera, your image is showing on the screen. Images actually will be change with your sound. Smaller the voice you are, more complicated and frighten your portrait will be. If you shout loudly, you can see your portrait more clear and simple.

The software I will use MAX/MASP ( Jitter / Martix, etc.)
